The 12 Zodiac Signs and 12 Houses is an accepted and undisputed assumption all over the World. In the Vedic context 27 Nakshatras are considered to be assigned in association with the 12 Signs and Houses. There are numerous methods of dividing 360 degrees into 12 parts or houses to which the 12 Signs & 27 Stars are assigned. Each Star thus gets 13d-20m out of the 360 degrees. In any house or Sign a part of the Star spills over into the next house or Sign as per the calculations involved. Each house is allocated 2-1/4 stars. When a Planet is placed in a house it shall be placed in one of the nakshatras as per its current location in degrees. The difference in Vedic concept was the House or Sign Lord and the 3 Star-Lords were fixed due to equal house concepts. A house starts at 0 and ends at 30 degrees.
The Cusp of the House is considered to be a very important factor over the life time. In cusps equal houses are not considered and instead the Placidus system of house division has been adopted where each cusp i.e. the beginning of a house has some difference from measure in degrees – minutes. So the Sign associated with the Cusp will be limited to the span of the house and at times a sign may be completely missing or 2 houses may have the same signs. The House or the Cusp Lords will be as per the signs calculated by the Placidus system. This is one of the deviation from the Vedic concept.
In cusps nakshatras are given more importance in prediction.

Lagna is Vrishab (venus is in 2H owning 1H and 6H)and NL is Mrighasish (mars is in 12H owning 7H and 12H)So we say Lagna gives the result of 2,1,6,12,7,12Houses.
Sun is in Gemini 7deg13 min(Sun is in 2H owning 4H)in Ardra nak. NL is rahu posited in the 4H.For Rahu –Ketu we take the sign lord in which they are posited So again we get the Suns owned house.Sun gives us the result of 2 and 4 house.

Moon is shifted its position to the 12H, coz lagna is 23deg taurus and moon is less than that at 13:18 Taurus.
2nd cusp starts at Gem 17:10. Sun is Gem 07:13 and Venus is Gem 07:01. Both degrees less than than degrees of 2nd cusp,so they are in Gemini sign but house position is 1H.
3rd cusp is cancer10:38. Mercury is in can 01:58 so mer is in cancer but in the 2H.wheras Uranus is in can25:04. Since it is more than the the 3rd cusp degrees so it does not change its position.
4th cusp is Leo 07:19. Pluto Rahus degrees are more so they do not shift their position
6th cusp is Libra 17:15, so Neptune isles. It shifts to 5H.
8th cusp is sag17:10. Jupiter is sag 05:11 and Saturn is sag 22:55. Jupiters degrees less than the 8th cusp so being in Saggitarius it shifts to the 7H and Saturn remains in 8H.
Ketu does not change its position.
12th cusp is Aries 17:15 ans mars is 07:51. Degrees being less than 12th cusp it is taken in 11H.

Saturn in 8h and nl is venus, which gives her result of 1,6,8,9,10, houses.in spite of all the obstacles, she is always successful in her work.
Mars is in 11h in ketu nak, so the houses activated are 7,8,9,10,11,12 houses . lagna nl mars gives her good work, spirituality. she is very religious and does lots of charity.
7th cusp is scorpio 23:26.nl is jyeshta.only mercury operates the 7h, who is sitting in a shadashtak position from jupiter,the karak of marriage.mars 4th aspect falls on mercury. (aspects taken from lagna chart only)
The cusp lord is the engine driver of that particular house. if the cusp nl is strong,the house becomes strong.to make a house strong we can do the remedies of the nl of the cusp. in the above chart there were no intercepted rashis.we come to know if a sign is intercepted and which houses are dominant only through the cusps chart. so the importance of cusps.predictions may go wrong when we only interpret through tne lagna chart. the cusps gives us the length of the house. we can calculate how many padas are covered in each house. the more the charans, the stronger the house or more desire related to the matters of that house.
