After traveling for days, I arrived at the Kamakhya Temple, perched on the Nilachal Hills in Guwahati. The moment I stepped onto the temple grounds, I felt a sense of power and mystery in the air. Unlike the grand and ornate temples I’d visited before, Kamakhya had a raw, earthy energy that seemed to resonate with something deep inside me.

The temple doesn’t have a traditional idol. Instead, the center of worship is a natural stone formation symbolizing the yoni (womb), the source of creation. It felt primal, sacred, and entirely in tune with Bharani’s essence.

The Energy of Bharani at Kamakhya
As I stood there, a priest noticed my interest and began explaining the temple’s significance. “This temple is dedicated to the Goddess Kamakhya, who represents the power of creation,” he said. “Bharani Nakshatra is also about creation and nurturing. But it’s not just about giving birth—it’s about transformation, the cycle of life, death, and rebirth.”

He continued, “Every year during the Ambubachi Mela, the temple celebrates the Goddess’s menstruation. It’s a reminder of the earth’s fertility and the cycles of life. This aligns perfectly with Bharani, which teaches us that every ending is also a new beginning.”

I asked the priest, “Bharani is ruled by Venus, which represents beauty and creation. But why is it connected to Yama, the god of death?”

The priest smiled and said, “Yama isn’t just about death. He ensures the smooth transition of souls and upholds dharma (cosmic law). Bharani’s energy comes from this balance—it gives life, but it also has the courage to let go when it’s time. Without endings, there can be no new beginnings. Kamakhya Temple celebrates this duality of Bharani—creation and release, nurturing and transformation.”

A Moment of Reflection
Sitting in the temple courtyard, I began to reflect on my own life. As an astrologer, I often help people navigate challenges, but I realized how much we all resist change. We cling to what’s familiar, fearing the unknown. Bharani, like Kamakhya, teaches us that letting go is not a loss—it’s a necessary step toward growth.

The connection between Bharani Nakshatra and Kamakhya Temple is clear:

What This Journey Taught Me
As I left Kamakhya Temple, I felt a sense of peace and understanding. Bharani Nakshatra is not just a celestial body—it’s a powerful reminder to embrace life’s cycles, honor the divine feminine, and trust the flow of the universe.

Now, whenever I study a chart with Bharani Nakshatra or gaze at the night sky, I see more than a star. I see a force that connects us to the deepest truths of life: creation, transformation, and renewal.
