[Introduction: I must now say a few words about one of the oldest Astrologers, old not only in age (he is 92 years) but also in practicing Astrology [Or should I use the word-experienced]. He lives in Chennai and he is called as Nakkirar Natarajan. Many of you would have heard about the name ‘Nakkirar’, one of the Tamil poets who argued with Lord Shiva and was burnt alive (and of course subsequently brought to life). I do not want to go into the story of Nakkirar here. Readers can have the same from the net – Wikipedia also gives an account of the story. Just like Nakkirar, Our Guru Natarajan, in an Astrological conference argued with many stalwarts on one astrological principle. While all others were wrong, the rule as stated by Natarajan was found to be correct and hence in the same conference he was conferred the title ‘Nakkirar’. He has to his credit many such titles, appreciations etc. etc. He has also authored many books in Tamil. It was he, who was instrumental in making me pen this article. It has become a very lengthy article. But that was because, Sri Natarajan wanted me to test the rules at least on 100 charts and according to him if we get a success rate of 60 % or so then the rule can be safely applied. Read yourself patiently and find out the success rate.]

I have already written about the Dosha or blemish which is to be seen in the charts of the boy and the girl before marriage as per Sukra Nadi. This is the modified and improved version of Sri Natarajan.

Rules

A malefic in any of the houses Lagna, 2^nd, 4^th, 7^th, 8^th or 12^th produces Dosha. Four malefics are considered – Rahu, Sun, Saturn and Mars in descending order. Ketu and malefic Mercury as well as Waning Moon do not produce any Dosha.

How to calculate the Dosha?

Units are allotted to the houses as well as to the planets mentioned above.

When the above malefic planets are placed in-

Lagna, 2^nd house and 4^th house – 3 units

7^th house – 5 units

8^th house – 6 units

12^th house – 1 unit

For the planets –

Rahu – 1 unit

Sun – 2 units

Saturn – 3 units

Mars – 4 units

Dosha also depends on Avastha

In Exaltation No Dosha [Sun in Aries (10°), Moon in Taurus(3°), Mars in Capricorn (28°), Mercury in Virgo (15°), Jupiter in Cancer(5°), Venus in Pisces(27°), Saturn in Libra(20°)]
In Moolatrikona – 25 % or ¼ times ( Sun in Leo, Moon in Taurus, Mars in Aries, Mercury in Virgo, Jupiter in Sagittarius, Venus in Libra, Saturn in Aquarius.)
When in Own house – 50 %
In friendly house – 75 % ¾ times (Sun in Cancer, Aries & Scorpio, Sagittarius & Pisces; Moon in Leo, Gemini & Virgo; Mars in Leo, Cancer, Sagittarius & Pisces; Mercury in Leo, Taurus & Libra; Jupiter in Leo, Cancer, Aries & Scorpio; Venus in Gemini & Virgo, Capricorn & Aquarius; Saturn in Gemini & Virgo, Taurus & Libra)
In Neecha – 125 % – 1.25 times
In enemy house full Dosha.
Rahu and Ketu do not own any house as per this principle and hence the Dosha is to be treated as full.

Rules:

From Lagna the Dosha calculated will be full.

From Moon it will be 50 % of the total.

From Venus it will be 25 % of the total.

The Dosha in the two charts should be equal or it can be more in the boy’s chart. On no account, the Dosha in the girl’s chart should be more than the boy’s Dosha. Dosha in the boy’s chart can be double than in girl’s chart. Beyond that is not desirable and should be rejected.

At this juncture I would like to quote the rules as appearing in Sukra Nadi –

The ideal situation would be that the blemish of the boy should be at least twice that of the girl. [It should not exceed two times that of the girl]

When the husband gets twice the amount of blemish to that of his wife, he will get good and many issues and will be enjoying many yogas. Or if at least the ratio is one to one and a half (between girl and boy) then also good results are likely to come.

In case the blemish of the boy exceeds that of the girl by a quarter marriage can be done. If the blemish of the girl is more than quarter of that boy that will kill the husband or separate him from the girl. [In other words, the Dosha of the girl should never exceed that of the boy]

For the above two charts Dina, Gana, Stree Deerga, Yoni-Rasi, Rasi, Rasi adhipathy, Rajju, Vedha, Varna-Nakshatra, Varna-Rasi and Nadi – are matching good and Yoni-Nakshatra is also ordinary. (Nakshatra of female–Pushya 3^rd pada. Nakshatra of male-Punarvasu-4^th pada). As per P.S Iyer, the matching score is 34 out of 36.

In spite of this excellent matching, there was divorce.

The male chart (27.75) is having a very high Dosha as compared to the female chart. (5.25). As per the rule Dosha in the boy’s chart can be at most double than that of the girl. Here it is nearly 5 times. Hence the result of divorce.

Bardot Brigitte: Marriage with Roger Vadim on 20^th December 1952. They divorced five years later, but remained friends and collaborated in later work. Other details are available in Wikipedia.

Compare the Dosha’s of the wife (40.25) with that of the husband (13.5). It is nowhere near the permitted level.

Nakshatra of Brigitte is Rohini 3^rd pada and that of Roger Vadim is Uttrabhadrapada 1^st pada. As per the table in the matching of Charts-I[1] under table Rohini being the birth star of the girl, the matching against the star Uttrabhadrapada are – Gana, Stree Dirga, Rasi, Rajju, Veda, Varna-Nakshatra, Varna-Rasi and Nadi. Yoni-Nakshatra agreement is ordinary. So it is more than 56 % yet the marriage failed. A score of 27 is given by P.S.Iyer for these two stars.

Donald Trump

Donald trump had three marriages. The first marriage was with Ivana around 1977 and lasted for 13 years and divorce took place in the year 1991. The second tempestuous flirtation followed by marriage was with Marla Mapples in Dec. 1993 which lasted till May 1997. His third wife was Melania Knauss whom he married in January 2005.

The good agreements are – Dina, Yoni-Nakshatra, Yoni-Rasi, Rasi, Rasiadhipathy, Rajju, Vasya, Varna-Rasi and Nadi a total of 9 and the Gana agreement is ordinary. Nearly 68% agreement. As per P.S.Iyer, the matching score is 31.

Dhanishta-4^th pada is the birth star of Marla Maples and Jyeshta-4^th pada is that of Donald Trump. The following Kuta agreements are good – Dina, Gana, Mahendra, Stree Dirga, Rasi, Rajju, Vedha, Varna-Rasi and Varna-Nakshatra. Yoni-Nakshatra agreement is ordinary. Hence Kuta agreement is above average. According to P.S.Iyer there is no matching between the two stars.

Example 5

Natalie’ love life was active and complicated. She married actor Robert Wagner in 1957 when she was 19. The couple bought a house and tried to meet the demands of their respective careers. Neither handled money very well and soon the marriage was in trouble. They divorced after five years.

Other details of her love life as well as subsequent escapades can be had from Astro Data Bank. She had three marriages, two times to the same man Robert Wagner and had two divorces.

When we look into the Kuta agreement we note that the birth star Aswini-3^rd pada of Natalie Wood and birth star Ardra-3^rd pada of Robert Wagner have the following agreements in the Good category:

Dina, Rajju and Veda only. Yoni-Nakshatra, Yoni-Rasi and Rasi agreements are in the ordinary category. So Kuta matching is also not desirable. P.S.Iyer also does not agree for matching of these two stars.

Janma Nakshatra of wife is Purvabhadrapada-4^th pada and that of husband is Swati-3^rd pada. Kuta agreement is good in Dina, Gana, Stree Dirga, Rasi, Rajju, Vedha and Nadi. It is ordinary in Yoni-Nakshatra. The stars should be avoided while matching as per P.S.Iyer.

Now let us test this principle on charts of widows/widowers to see whether it really affects the girls/boys. But it should be borne in mind that this is not a measure of longevity. One should not jump to a conclusion that if the charts satisfy the rules laid down under this principle, the husband or wife will pass away. In olden days, wives were dependant for living on the husband as they were not having income of their own. Hence, it was believed that if the husband pre-deceases the wife and that too when the wife is in her middle or young age, she will have to face lot of hardships. Hence this Dosha was primarily used to judge whether there is blemish in the girl’s chart, is higher than that of the boy and not vice versa.

Gana, Yoni-Nakshatra, Yoni-Rasi, Rasyadhipa, Vedha, Varna-Nakshatra and Varna-Rasi are having good Kuta agreement. Dina agreement is ordinary. But P.S.Iyer says this Eka nakshatra can be matched and gives a score of 28.

Whenever the same star matching is done, the following 8 stars must be avoided as they are not sustainable. 1. Bharani 2. Aslesha 3. Swathi 4. Jyeshta 5. Moola 6. Dhanishta 7. Satabhisha 8. Poorvabhadrapada. This is the ruling of some other school of thought and also as per mentor.

Dosha in the wife’s chart (27.125) is more than that in the husband’s chart (16.4375). However, the wife died first. Hence this chart also fails the test.

Janma Nakshatra of Linda McCartney was Visaka – 2^nd pada and that of Paul Mcartney was Aslesha 3^rd pada. From the matching of Charts –I Annexure you will find in the table for Visaka-2^nd pada the following Kuta matchings are Good – Gana, Stree Dirgha, Rasi, Rajju, Veda, Varna-Nakshatra, Varna-Rasi. Yoni-Nakshatra matching is ordinary. A total of 7 good and one ordinary matching only out of 14, so to say a little above 50 %. As per P.S Iyer both the stars are not to be matched as the score is less than 19.

Conclusion:

In case of divorce in almost 7 charts the rules were not applicable. Hence the rate of success is 53.33 %. In case of Death of the partner 4 out of 7 went against the rules which is also more than 50 %. Hence I went upon checking the Divorce cases taking the data from ADB. Hardly 2 or 3 cases indicate death of either of the partners. The success rate comes to 70 % . Where the rule is not applicable I have marked them in red colour. Readers can judge themselves from the same, whether to take this rule seriously and apply them at the time of matching of charts or not. Lastly I thank those who have provided me with the birth data of various couples for testing with this principle.

P.S: After completing all the formalities of editing etc., I showed this article to Sri Natarajan and asked him “Is it safe to follow this rule at the time of matching?” He was of the opinion that as far as early death of a partner is concerned, this does not reveal the true picture because, longevity depends on many other factors. Next the Dosha Samyam does not take into consideration, the strength of the Lords of the 7^th as well as the 8^th house which are the two primary houses for a marriage to be successful. We take into account only the placement of planets. In case the lords of these two houses are weak in regard to their placements, conjunctions, aspects etc., as well as placements in Navamsa, then this method can be relied upon. Also the Retrograde position of the planets concerned have not been taken into consideration. Hence due consideration to be given to all other factor concerning marriage and this method should not be solely relied upon.
