First of all I am expressing my gratitude to LORD SHIVA for giving me an opportunity to be student of astrology which is the science of all sciences. I bow my head to supreme LORD SHIVA and NAVGRAHAS.

Now I am going to translate some shlokas of HORABIGYAN RAHASYAM, a famous classic of Vedic Astrology. It is written in Bengali.

The author of this famous book is Pandit Shri Narayan Chandra Bhattachariya. He lived in Bhattapally in West Bengal(North 24 Pargana district). He was a son of Pandit Murarimohan Vidyaratna. Pandit Narayan Chandra Bhattachariya devoted his entire life for serving astrology and he composed this treatise named HORABIGYANRAHASYAM.

This book contains vast knowledge of astrology. He gathered core knowledge from different classics such as PARASAR HORA, SARAVALI, JATAK PARIJAT, SHAMBHU HORA, BRIHAJATAK etc. and then he decorated this great book named -HORABIGYAN RAHASYAM.

As students of astrology we should go through this book in depth so that we can equip ourselves with some specious principles of this divine science and attain moksha.

CHANDRA NITYOSTIKNOKARO BILAGNE NARANG PRASUTE SUTMANHEENAM. SREEYA VIHINANG PITRI MATRIDUKHYANG SANTAPTA CHITANG PARIBHUTMANE.(shloka-248)

If Sun is in lagna with Moon the native will be little known and he would be aimless. He will be a burden for his parents and would be badly defeated by others.

Note:-Generally Moon+Sun means born in amavasya or near amavasya. According to Hindu philosophy amavasya is not treated as auspicious tithi. Therefore bad result is attributed in this shloka when Sun +Moon are situated in lagna. Lagna denotes native himself. Therefore the above shloka states that native will not get established in his life and would be a burden for his parents. However, for Cancer, Libra, Aries, Scorpio lagnas, this planetary combination brings auspicious results for natives. Readers are requested to test my explanation in the horoscopes they come across.

(2)-LAGNE DINESH KUJO-SANGPRAYUKTA RAKTAGNI-PITTODHBHAVA-DOSHAYUKTAM. NARANG PITUDUKHYUTANG NRISANSANG SADADHWANG KRURMATING KAROTI.(shloka-249)

If Sun and Mars are in lagna the native will be suffering from blood related problem and he will be haughty minded and cruel. . He will not be a good son for his father.

(3)-DINADHINATH SASIGEN YUKTO LAGNE NARANG YAANSUKHA VIHINAAM.PRESHANG KHALONG PAAPRATANG VISILONG VIVORGITANG SURIDH-BANDHUMARTAI.(shloka-250)

If Mercury and Sun are in lagna the native will be unhappy. He will do bad deeds and he will have no friends and he will be a servant.

Note:-In this shloka bad results are stated when Mercury and Sun are in lagna. But, in reality I have tested several charts where Sun and Mercury are in lagna. However the above bad results are not seen. For Aries, Leo, Virgo and Gemini lagnas this combination bestows great results for the natives. It creates BUDHADITYA yoga which is very beneficial . Respected readers are requested to test the effects stated in this shloka.

If Sun and Jupiter are in lagna the native will be angry, ugly, servile, complicated, unfaithful and jealous.

Note:-In the above shloka bad results are stated. But actually I do not agree with this statement. Jupiter+Sun in lagna or anywhere else is always beneficial because Sun denotes atman and Jupiter indicates knowlege. Therefore Jupiter+Sun means atman +knowledge. Therefore this yoga makes one honest, religious and knowledgeable.

(5)-SUKRANITYOVOSARPO BILAGNE NARANG PRASUTE BAHUBAKTRESAM.SALPATWAJANG TIBRATARANGSROUDRANGPAROPTAPANG SATATANG VIRAKTAM.(shloka-252)

If Sun is in lagna with Venus the native will be pleased with flattery. He will have limited progeny, angry in nature and irritatiing.

(6)-MANDANITYOSTIKNOKARO BILAGNE KAROTI MAROTANG JATILONG SKRISHNAM.KANTANURAKTANG PORUSHSWABHAVANG TAKTANG SWABAGRGEN GUNAIBIHINAM.(shloka-253)

If Sun is in lagna with Saturn the native will be complicated, and cruel minded. His colour will be black. He will not be liked by his relatives. Note:-Sun and Saturn are enemies of each other. I have verified above Sun-Saturn yoga and observed that there is no good relationship between father and son in such cases . According to Hindu mythology Sun is father and Saturn is son and their relationship is not good.

(7)-BHOUMANITYO SITKARO BILAGNE DUSTASWABHAVANG JAMYENMANUSAM. DHANEN HEENANG VISAYPRASEKANG VIVADSILANCHA GUNA-BIRJUKTAM.(shloka-254)

If Moon is in lagna with Mars then native will be wicked, poor, jealous and would not have good character..

Note:-If Moon and Mars are lord of kendras, konas or upachayas, then native will get good results. Readers’ views are most welcome.

If Moon and Mercury are in lagna the native will be eloquent speaker,, handsome, kindhearted, fond of his soul mate and religious.

(9)-SASI DEVPUJYOU BILAGNASRITOU VADIPOUSLESHMA DEHANG SAWSHITANG NARANGBA. SUGEHANG SUDEHANG PARANG PINGOKESHANG NARONG SATWASANDHANG PABITRANG SRIGETAM.(shloka-256)

If Moon and Jupiter are in lagna the native will be suffering from cough and cold. He will have beautiful house. He will be handsome, religious and honest.

(10)-VAHUPUTRA SUHRIDARJWA SUDEHA BANDHUSANYUKT.SUPINPRITHUBAKSA SWALAGNE SASISSUREJYAYO.(shloka-257)

If Moon and Jupiter are in lagna the native will be father of many children, he will be fond of his soul mate and will have nice physic and chest.

Note:- In traditional astrology Moon+Jupiter creates jeev yoga which is very auspicious. .

If Moon and Venus are in lagna the native will be fond of prostitutes, he will be handsome and he will like ornaments.

(13)-SAURANITYO SITKARO BILAGNE KAROTI MARTANG KUDHANG VISANG GYAM. KSHUDRASWABHAVANG PAROBITTOLUBDHANG MAHABIBADANG BIJITANG KHALAISCHA.(shloka-260)

If Moon and Saturn are in lagna the native will be narrow minded, fond of others’ properties, jealous and he defeats others through immoral means.

(14)-ROUDRADASO SOMSUTO BILAGNE KARPTI MARTANG PAROBANCHO KANCHO. VIVADSILANG VIKRITANUKARANG SADA PROBASAVIRTANG NRISANG SAMA.(shloka-261)

If Moon and Saturn are in lagna the native will be angry, servile, and greedy. He will not be famous. He will be lazy.

(15)-BHOUMANITYO SOMSUTA BILAGNE KAROTI MARTANG PARABANCHA KANCHA.VIVADSHILANG VIKRITINUKARONG SADA PRABASHAVIRTANG NRISANGSAM.(shloka-262)

If Mars and Mercury are in lagna then native will be cheat, cruel, evil minded, follower of odd matters and live in foreign land .

(16)-HINGSROHOGNI KARMAKUSHALA DHATUBADI KRITASRAMA.DUTA GUCHABIHARI CHA BILAGNE BHOUMA SOUMYA.(shloka-263)

If Mars and Mercury are in lagna then native will be violent, expert in fire and dhatu related works . He will be hardworking and skilled in espionage.

(17)-BHOUMANANITYO DEBGURUBILAGNE NARANG PRASUTE KATHINSWABHAVAM.SALPATWAJANG SHANKUKARANG JYANANANG KUKARMARAKTANG PRIYOSASHSANCHA.(shloka- 264)

If Mars and Jupiter are in lagna then native will be cruel minded, will have limited progeny, brave and will do bad deeds.

Note:-I do not agree with above statement. Generally, Guru-Mangal yoga makes a native brave , religious and prominent. Doctors, military personnel, police, political leaders are observed to have this yoga as observed by me..

If Mars and Jupiter are in lagna the native will be minister, orator, famous, rich, enthusiastic and religious. He will have many sons.

(19)-KUJENYUKTA BHRIGUJA BILAGNE NARANG PRASUTE KAF PRITANGAM.BRITHASHRAMANG VANCHA NAKANG KRITAGNAGNANG PRASUTAVEERANG VIJAYEN HEENAM.(shloka-266)

If Mars and Venus are in lagna the native will be suffering from cough and cold. He will be a cheat, unfaithful but he will become father of a brave son. .

If Mars and Saturn are in lagna the native will do evil deeds, will be angry, cruel and be friend of wicked persons.

If Mars and Saturn are in lagna the native will be suffering from toothache and get injury from stones-wood.

If Jupiter and Mercury are in lagna the native will be fortunate, rich and humble.

If Venus and Mercury are in lagna the native will work for king, fond of sastras, rich and honest. (24)-DWIJYODAVARJ NARATO DHANINRIPATI PUJITO. SUBHAG PANDITO KHATO LAGNE BODHAN-SUKRAYO.(shloka-271)

If Mercury and Venus are in lagna the native will be devotee of cow and brahmins. He will be rich, famous and honoured by king.

(25)-SOUMONITYO SURYANITO BILAGNE NARANG PRASUTE NRIPAKARYADAKSYAM.DROHANURAKTANG KUKALATRANISTANG VEEHEN BITTANG JANATA BIRUDHANG.(shloka-272)

If Mercury and Saturn are in lagna the native will work for king(now Government service ).He will be interested in women who are immoral. He will be poor and antisocial.
