Volumes have been written on Steve Jobs since his passing. It seems we never truly look at a person’s life accomplishments until they are gone. He has been compared to Thomas Edison of our era for his inventions and how they changed our lives. As the CEO of Apple and Pixar Animation Studios his pioneering genius marks a new generation.
His speech at the commencement ceremony at Stanford University in 2005 will go down in history as one of the most inspirational testaments for how to live life. What inspired such a heart-felt speech was the prospect of his impending death. In essence here is the message he relayed to the students and the world: You’ve got to find what you love, death makes you aware of what is important since your time is limited, don’t waste time on someone else’s dream, and most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. Everything else is secondary. “Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything — all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure – these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important”.
The most important message Steve Jobs was here to teach: Follow the guidance of your inner spirit which is your connection to the truth and you will discover your path. If you spend more time doing that which you don’t love then you are following the mass consciousness. The mass consciousness is the dogma of other’s beliefs you feel forced to follow. This gives a life of mediocrity which will never lead to true happiness, for we are all here to live our highest dreams and expectations. For when you do not trust this inner guidance the road may be bumpy until you regain your faith and trust. We fall off the path when we lose our trust in our guidance. Even though we may not see the entire destination we must trust that everything has meaning and will lead us to our destiny. Jobs spoke of this as connecting the dots, for he dropped out of college and took a calligraphy class. Not knowing that this would give birth to the fonts of the first Macintosh computer. The mass consciousness is based on fear and limitation but our spirit is full of expansive possibilities and prosperity. He had the courage to trust in his inner spirit and that led to his life’s destiny. Notice how we never pay attention to the messengers that teach the truth while they are still alive. Death makes everything more poignant and real.
In his personal life he was known for his brash behavior and bad temper but aside from his personal flaws he gained great perspective on life and was able to grow personally and convey his heart felt message. We all make mistakes but to gain perspective and grow from life’s experiences gives our life meaning and purpose.
He was a leader who was not afraid to think outside of the box. His concepts of life were obviously connected to a certain awareness and consciousness found through self exploration. Brilliant minds do not settle on the conservative status quo, they think for themselves knowing there is more to their existence.

Astrological Analysis
The many aspects of his brilliance, intelligence and material wealth did not make complete sense with the birth time that was given from Astro Data Bank of 7:15 pm which was obtained from a birth certificate. A time from a birth certificate is the most reliable source we can have today, even though there can always be a discrepancy as to the how exact even this is.
With this time his ascendant is on the cusp of Leo and Virgo. If this birth time is precise then he is a Leo ascendant (29 degrees) and if he was born just 4 minutes later he would be a Virgo ascendant. It seems when this is the case sometimes both ascendants seem to work. I have gone back and forth with both of these ascendants and both made sense. But finally I realized his birth time giving a Leo ascendant, has to be correct.
Powerful Mercury
Both Mercury and Mars are the planets that rule intelligence. Mercury rules intelligence in terms of how information is processed. Mars is the planet of intelligence while Mercury rules thinking. Leo as the ascendant marks a weak Mercury, which initially does not make sense. Here is a genius mind and the planet that rules the thinking process is retrograde in the 6th house of struggles, unaspected by other planets. Furthermore, Mercury rules both houses pertaining to money and wealth, the 2nd and 11th houses. It should stand out as one of the most powerful planets if he has Leo on the ascendant. He was a self made billionaire, and all billionaire’s have a strong 2nd and 11th house ruler. But finally I realized his Mercury was Stationary!Stationary planets are the MOST powerful planets in a chart. A stationary planet is rare for there are only a few days that a planet is considered stationary. This occurs when a planet is in the process of either turning retrograde or direct. In this cycle it appears to be standing still and is called stationary. This impacts a planet as a focal point of power. This powerful Mercury gives reason for his intellectual capacity and great financial wealth. The 2nd house is the house of speech and his powerful speech at Stanford University will go down in history. It has been called the “Gettysburg Address” of commencement speeches. When a planet stands still it is making a statement, “pay attention, look at me!”
Jupiter
Jupiter is in the 11th house of great gains in the sign Gemini, ruled by Mercury. Gemini is about information and intellect. This connects Mercury to Jupiter. Jupiter aspects both Venus and Saturn by the exact degree, this is quite amazing! The planets that Jupiter aspects gives expansion and wealth. This empowers both Venus and Saturn and the houses they rule and occupy.
Venus
Venus in the 5th house gives creative intelligence and with Jupiter and Rahu’s aspect to this house plus Venus they magnify the creative potential. The 5th house commands power, leadership and deep understanding of the mechanics of life. Venus rules the 10th house of career placed in the 5th house gives a career where he can express his creativity. He created the animation for movies with his Pixar Animation Studios.
The 5th house is the house of children. He initially would not claim the paternity of his first and oldest daughter. This is indicated by the aspect of both Rahu and Saturn to his 5th house.
Sun
His Sun is in the 7th house, an angular house (1, 4, 7, and 10). Angular planets give power! The 7th house represents our partners in life and he most certainly had powerful partners in marriage and business. One of his first business partners was Bill Gates. Jupiter and Ketu’s aspect to the Sun added more power and expansion for powerful partners in both business and love.
11th house of Adoption
Job’s mother was an unwed graduate student who gave him up for adoption. The 11th house is the house that pertains to adoption because it is the 8th house (death) from the 4th house of mother. The house Ketu occupies indicates a vacuum or void, where we never feel complete in our lives. Ketu in this house can indicate adoption.
Loss around issues with the mother is indicated when the Moon is in the 8th house, further indicating an adoption.
Moon
The Moon indicates the mind and in the 8th house gives profound perception and search for meaning in life. The 8th house is the house of death and those who have planets here are interested in life after death. His powerful speech addressed the subject of death directly which made sense of life and his reality. He viewed death as the best motivation to live your life with purpose. The nakshatra of his Moon is Uttara Bhadrapada which is one of the most profound and insightful nakshatras pertaining to death, for it is symbolized by the serpent of the deep, and the back legs of a funeral cot.
The 8th house is also the house of chronic health problems. He was in his Moon dasha when he died from pancreatic cancer. His death occurred during the Moon/Jupiter cycle indicating his death as the Moon is in the 8th house in the sign ruled by Jupiter (Pisces).
Mars
Mars in Aries is in its own sign of rulership making it powerfully potent. This gives drive, ambition, and is the planet for intelligence. In the 9th house Mars gives a quest for higher spiritual knowledge. He traveled to India on a spiritual quest to the ashram of Neem Karoli Baba. He also experimented with psychedelic drugs which had an effect on his countercultural ideas and unconventional attitude towards life. Neptune is opposed Mars in the 9th house representing his spiritual beliefs entrenched in the mystical and also the father he never knew.
Mars is the yoga karaka for Leo ascendant indicating a planet of power for this ascendant. (Yoga Karaka is a single planet that rules both an angle 4th and a trikonal house 9th). But it also gave him a terrible temper. This can be due to the malefic influence of the aspects of Saturn and Rahu. Furthermore, Mars in the 9th house indicates a deep seated anger with his paternal father whom he refused to meet.
Saturn
His biological sister whom he became close to later in life is a famous author. In his 3rd house of siblings he has exalted Saturn receiving the aspect of Jupiter. Saturn in the 3rd can represent a severing of the relationship with a younger sibling as in his adoption. Also, Mars as the karaka for siblings is powerfully placed in Aries. Neptune indicates a secret, and even though he found his sister they kept their relationship a secret for some time.
Navamsha Chart
In his navamsha chart Mercury is in the 8th house with Uranus and Rahu in Cancer further indicating his profound mind, and Uranus and Rahu rule futuristic thought and computers.
Mercury’s ruler is the Moon which is in the 12th house. This is a moksha house. The moksha houses are 4, 8 and 12 and rule liberation of the soul and enlightenment. Jobs was not seen as enlightened but his life was deeply meaningful and he achieved much liberation as a soul with his deep realizations from the lessons of his life. The 8th house is the house of death and the 12th house is the house of loss and endings. These are very difficult houses indicating sorrow. The connections of the 8th and 12th houses will indicate hardships that result in lessons of liberation.
Transits
Transits merely activate the timing of events in our natal chart. On the day of his death (October 5, 2011) the most significant transit was Ketu aspecting his Mercury in the 6th house of health. The transiting Moon was in Capricorn conjunct his natal Mercury activating this specific health issue. Mercury rules his 2nd house, and it is in Capricorn ruled by Saturn. Saturn rules the 7th house. Both the 2nd and 7th houses are maraka planets for his chart, because the maraka houses are the 2nd and 7th houses. Planets either placed in or ruling these two houses are considered the maraka planets for a chart and maraka means death inflicting. Maraka houses are always activated at the time of death. Also Mercury and Saturn rule the 2nd and 7th houses in the navamsha chart too.
Transiting Saturn was aspecting natal Jupiter which rules his 8th house of death. Also transiting Mars was aspecting his natal Mercury in his 6th house of health adding to his physical weakness and health matters.
Steve Job’s inner struggles are apparent with his 8th house Moon for his life exemplified a life of separation and loss which he overcame by his faith and intuition. His inner guidance led him to the truth and fulfillment of his life’s destiny. Understanding the ephemeral qualities of life he made sense of death and realized what was important. His message came from his life experience; to do what you love, and listen to your heart not the dogma of others and that death makes life more meaningful and real. We all need to remember this immortal timeless message he came to teach through the story of his life.
